Welcome to Flig.ht's online aviation data guide. This guide is regularly compiled from the FAA's data publications. Many of the features available in the API are available in the online data guide, however not all are implemented. The online guide can be extremly useful while developing API applications, as you can compare actual database data with the data that your application is producing. Every effort is made to provide only accurate, up to date information, however, the information provided by Flig.ht's online guide may not be current, particularly while the service is still in beta.
Flig.ht's online guide is divided into several broad categories, which roughly correspond to the different aspects of the data API.
Geocoding and georeference data provide useful functions such as turning a zipcode or location name into latitude and longitude, and finding towns near a specified latitude and longitude. These applications are useful to a broad range of applications beyond aviation. Althoght these are currently part of the core data process, independant APIs are not yet finished
Essentially a digital, searchable version of the Airport/Facilities Directory (A/FD), airport data is updated on the 56 day cycle. There are both search functions, to allow you to find the identifier you need from geographic information, as well as full query functions which provide a significant amount of information about airports and facilities.
